GIS Analyst Senior/Junior Positions OPEN

Currently Consus Management Ltd. is seeking a GIS Analyst and/or Senior GIS Technician AND an Intermediate and/or Junior GIS Technician to work in either the Williams Lake or Vernon Office.

Roles/ Responsibilities of GIS Analyst/ Senior Technician:

  • Development and maintenance of internal GIS applications and data.
  • Development and maintenance of mobile mapping/ web mapping applications, and web mapping customization.
  • Design high-quality maps and visualizations for presentation and decision-making purposes.
  • Use advanced cartographic principles to effectively communicate spatial information.
  • Tool and script development to automate GIS tasks.
  • Technical lead for GIS and Data solutions.
  • Verify and check spatial information to ensure continuity, integrity, and compliance with standards.
  • Perform spatial analysis and geoprocessing tasks to support our clients and internal staff.
  • LiDAR processing, production, quality control, and post-processing and/or equivalent classification software.
  • Train, coordinate and oversee the work of junior GIS technicians or team members.
  • Lead GIS projects from conception to completion, including defining project scopes, timelines, and deliverables.

Qualifications for a GIS Analyst/ Senior Technician:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, or diploma in Geographic Information Systems with associated background in environmental GIS applications.
  • Minimum of relevant experience in GIS, spatial analysis, and database management.
  • Advanced GIS expertise and analytical skills (proficiency with Esri suite of software products (ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, Survey123, Field Maps, and Web AppBuilder).
  • Capable of executing scripts, models, or macros in a geospatial environment.
  • Proficiency with database programming languages such as SQL, Python and ArcGIS Arcade.
  • Familiarity with data management systems such as the Land Resource Manager would be an asset.
  • Passion and aptitude for solving problems and utilizing new technologies.
  • Highly effective communicator, both written and oral.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Roles/ Responsibilities of Junior – Intermediate GIS Technician:

  • Create, update, and manage geospatial layers and tabular information using a variety of software platforms.
  • Create maps and map templates to support the GIS needs of our various clients.
  • Analyze, interpret, and integrate data from multiple sources – maps, drawings, spreadsheets, and Google Earth.
  • Perform basic spatial analysis and geo-processing tasks.
  • Document procedures, workflows, and data sources for future reference.
  • Maintain metadata for GIS datasets.
  • Provide technical expertise and support with mapping requests.
  • Manage time and workload effectively to achieve project objectives within budget constraints.

Qualifications for a GIS Technician:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, or diploma in Geographic Information Systems with associated background in environmental GIS applications.
  • Strong understanding of GIS principles and concepts.
  • Proficiency in using GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or other relevant tools.
  • Understanding of spatial analysis techniques, including overlay analysis, buffering, and proximity analysis.
  • Experience with GPS and field collection tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal for collaborating with team members, clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • GIS technology is continually evolving, so an ability to adapt to new tools and technologies is valuable.
